CLINICAL CHEMISTRY, Vol. 34, No. 1, 1988 177 the modified Jendrassik-Gr#{243}f procedure in the Technicon SMAC H (x) and with the Dri-STAT reagent in the RA-1000 (y). The resulting linear-regression equation was: y = 0.98x + 0.66 (r = 0.998), range = 4-370 /Lmol/L. The standard curve for total bilirubin was linear within the range 4-370 p.mol/L. To estimate the effect of hemolysis, we prepared four serum poolswith different amounts of bilirubin. Hemoglobin prepared from lysed erythrocytes was added to each pool to give Hb concentrations of 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5 g/L in pooled serum. Results were as follows:

False-negative cerebrospinal fluid cryptococcal latex agglutination tests for patients with culture-positive cryptococcal meningitis.
Three cases of false-negative cerebrospinal fluid latex agglutination test results for patients with culture-positive cryptococcal meningitis are reported. False-negative results occurred in settings of low cryptococcal antigen concentrations in cerebrospinal fluid and were dependent on the latex agglutination test kit used. Investigation of each case revealed that prozone phenomena or interfer...

in this study which has been carried out from 1996 until 1997 soluble latex agglutination antigen was prepared from L, donovani,sudan(s-1) by culturing in special media, harvesting, and later solubilizing by freezing and thawing.the antigen were futher prepared by high speed centrifugation.after measurement of the protein (lowry method) concentration of the antigen was set at 2.2 mg/ml,the antige...

Background and purpose: Leptospirosis is a common zoonosis throughout the world and common in the flat area of Guilan, Iran, with seasonal incidence, especially in rice farmers. Clinical diagnosis of leptospirosis is difficult, because its symptoms are similar to several acute infective diseases. Serological assays are important in diagnosis of the disease and microscopic agglutination test (...
متن کاملSequential study of C reactive protein in neonatal septicaemia using a latex agglutination test.
The usefulness of serial study of C reactive protein in the early detection of neonatal septicaemia was evaluated in a neonatal unit using a commercially available latex agglutination slide test as a rapid screening method and electroimmunoassay as a reference method for C reactive protein determination. A positive latex test was obtained in 11 infants with verified septicaemia (positive blood ...

AIMS To evaluate the Pastorex aspergillus antigen latex agglutination test for the diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis in patients undergoing liver or bone marrow transplantation. METHODS Serum samples were taken at least twice weekly post-transplant and tested for Aspergillus antigen. Latex agglutination test results were compared with microbiological examination of respiratory, urine and bi...
